Lingolook FRANCE app good for
No matter how many French lessons I take, when I visit France and have to talk, my brain goes blank. This app will give me more confidence and help me communicate basic information quickly and easily. My French pronunciation is atrocious so having the audio is a plus. The graphics are simple and well drawn. Having several ways to access the info you want is a great feature. The Reference Section lists a good selection of common menu items. The Help section linking to on-line maps is slow but in a pinch would do. Initially, the apps price seemed somewhat high but for the novice traveller to France, it would pay for itself in one day.
I have looked all ober this app store for a good french program that helps you learn phonetically (fone-et-tih-kul-ee). This program has this function as well as audible pronunciation and pictures. This is a good start. Will be looking for intermediate and advanced soon and will purchase them as well. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to learn french. If you have the programs for PC called Unforgettable Lanuages (previously Linkword languages) ...this is the closest thing you will find to it in the app store. I contacted Unforgettable languages about making an app and they said there would be none. Too bad, because i would totally buy and reccomend their program and give them 5 stars were they to make them. Fine program this is. 5 stars.
I purchased this to get me through an upcoming trip to Paris. It is a great product whose usefulness is enhanced by its excellent categorization of phrases. I especially love the pronounciation part.
I used this app a lot on a recent trip to Paris, and it was extremely helpful. Easy to use, I only wish it had a few more items.
Remember those pocket phrasebooks you used to carry to foreign countries? Lingolook has updated and automated the concept, with excellent results. Phrases are divided into eight main categories, each of which has about 10 subcategories. Each subcategory has four related phrases -- more than 300 all told. There is also an extensive reference section, with tables listing names of meats, sizes of clothing, etc., etc.
On top of that, a master index allows to you instantly find any particular phrase in English. (The one drawback with this app is there is no cross-index in French.) There is also a "Favorites" tab that remembers your most-visited phrases.
Whenever you display a phrase, you see the French version along with a pronunciation ("par-lay-vu ong-glay?"). And if you have trouble with the vowels (so nobody can understand you), you can hold up your iPhone, tap the phrase, and it is spoken in perfect French. Voila!
I think it is the best app i have ever had on my iPhone.
It enables you to discover new opportunies in travel planning.
Indeed, the app is very friendly and well designed.
Love it !
Some bad moments
So few words in the program it is virtually unusable. Dont waste your money.
I cant hear any word from my Touch, I dont know whats happend
Because it does not include definite articles it is useless to learn usable French...a real shame. Also audio does not work on iPhone. Please fix BOTH. Thank you.
I use this on my iPhone 3G. After the last update I only get blank pages when I click on a word/phrase. So frustrating.
I guess there was an update but it does not work with iPhone 4 all the pages are blank PLEASE FIX. Its been this way for a while now?
Dear developer,
I have read your help, the sound volume issue because your app use ringer and alerts volume control. Could you please use normal sound volume control but ringer and alerts? It is very confusing for me. If you fix the issue, I think that app is the one of best in my iPod touch.
